Episode Summary[]
Marj walks in on Chris kissing Meredith in the staffroom and hurries away, Meredith slaps Chris on the face where Jill’s husband had hit him. Meredith is angry and worried the whole clinic will hear about it. Chris says she’s worried people will know she’s “capable of a little passion”, Meredith says “it worries me that people might think I’d be interested in you”, “it’s a wonder no one’s done you for sexual harassment, the way you behave”, and “how dare you even think I’d be another one of your conquests”. She storms out and tells him to grow up.
Later, as Meredith is leaving, Carrie asks about the kiss with Chris and Meredith sets her straight, berating her for participating in gossip. Carrie says she was worried, but apologises for butting in. Marj tells Jaki about the kiss and comments on how private Meredith is. Carrie interrupts and tells Jaki to get back to work.
Chris is getting teased by Steve and Jaki in the staffroom over his kiss with Meredith when she walks in before quickly storming out. She heads straight to reception to give Marj a piece of her mind for spreading gossip. Marj defends herself saying she wasn’t spreading anything untrue, and Meredith heatedly explains the kiss was not her choice. Marj apologises. Speaking to Marj later, Jenny asks for an update on Chris and Meredith and Marj sets the record straight. As she leaves she says “Jenny, you should know better than to listen to gossip in this place”.
Later, Chris speaks to Meredith and they talk things out. Meredith says “I should probably be insulted that you took so long to get to me, I mean you must have tried it with everyone but Marjorie by now!”
A kid, Rowan, arrives at reception for an appointment and calls Jaki a “spunkbucket”. He ends up in the same room as Arnie. Chris explains to Arnie that Rowan has osteogenesis imperfecta, amid interjections from Rowan who’s having his temperature taken and told each time by Carrie to stop talking. Chris suggests Arnie should coach junior league, Arnie says that’s for “hasbeens” and tells Chris to “forget it” when he persists. Rowan is later watching Arnie’s last game on tv and asks Chris to move the tv so Arnie can watch. Arnie resists but Rowan says he’d do anything to be able to play and Arnie changes his mind and watches. Rowan chats to Arnie and softens his resistance to being a coach, later asking Chris for a contact he’d mentioned he had.
Jaki talks to Hone about where he’s staying, when he says with Jenny she asks “haven’t you got any friends around-” but Hone cuts her off and says it’s none of her business. When Hone has moved in, he and Nick discuss their dislike of Michael and Hone dodges the question of why he returned from Guatemala. Hone asks Nick about his life and Nick gets defensive, saying Jenny thinks he needs a father figure, but wishes it wasn’t Michael. Hone asks about Nick’s father, Nick says he’s “around somewhere”. They discuss Nick’s future and Jenny reluctantly says maybe Nick can get a job instead of going to uni if it’s the right sort of job - “I’ll have a word to Michael”.
Hone gives some forms to Jenny at the clinic, bumping into Nick who grumpily explains Michael got him a job at the rec center across the road “where mum and Mckenna can keep an eye on me, constant surveillance”.
Nick visits Simon at the clinic, who asks him to fill in at a gig he was meant to play at the weekend.
Kirsty shows Steve a shirt she bought from him, once red, now orange and shrunk. Chris, Jaki and Alison join her in asking Steve for their money back. Steve says the best he can do are some IOUs for now.
Sam arrives late to help Steve with dinner, they bicker before Alison arrives. Sam brought a mirror for Alison’s room but Alison says she’s not sure she’ll be moving in. They bicker more in front of Alison, she comments on the dirty bathroom. Sam won’t tell Steve who he’s brought to dinner until Steve answers the door to find Gina. Sam eggs Gina on to fawn over Steve. Gina talks about a series of people that lived with Sam and Steve, as well as an unfortunate fire, which she doesn’t know were lies told by Sam and Steve to stop her moving in. After dinner they’ve all had a bit to drink, the boys try to convince Alison to stay the night in the spare room and send Gina home in a taxi, but both Gina and Alison end up sleeping over.
Gina talks to Kirsty about the dinner the next day, and Kirsty lets her know that neither Sam nor Steve really wanted her there and they are both after Alison. Gina gets upset and says she wants revenge, Kirsty says she has a plan.
