Joseph James "Joey" Henderson was a character on Shortland Street.He was portrayed by Johnny Barker from June 2007 until March 2008.
He worked as a nurse at the Emergency Department at Shortland Street Hospital.
He was revealed as The Ferndale Strangler on December 14, 2007; from May 2007 to October 31st, 2007 he was responsible for the deaths of Cindy Young, Claire Solomon, Meg Harris, Jay Copeland, Beth Wilson and Brenda Holloway. On February 29th, 2008 he abducted Alice Piper and held her captive for three days in which time he performed surgery to remove her appendix. She eventually escaped. He was almost caught by detective Lara Wade before he committed suicide by jumping off the roof of a storage facility. His last words were "I am Joseph James Henderson, gone but never forgotten".
